P&G veteran hired as CEO of software firm

Procter & Gamble Co. veteran Lori Schafer has been hired as CEO of PlumSlice, a software company that provides cloud-based product content management, merchandising and marketplace solutions.

Schafer began her career with the Cincinnati-based maker of consumer goods such as Pampers diapers (NYSE: PG) while still a student at Miami University in Oxford.

She graduated from Miami in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in operations research, systems analysis and mathematics.

Schafer began working at P&G in June 1983 and stayed with the company for five years. Her P&G experience included brand management, sales and technology.

She left P&G in June 1988 to become an independent consultant in the retail and packaged goods sectors. Shafer was named CEO of Marketmax in Boston in 1996, and she became president of global retail for SAS in 2003.

Schafer was executive adviser for global retail practice at the SAS Institute from 2009 until last year, and she was instrumental in building the institute’s global leadership position in retail analytics solutions, according to PlumSlice.

She had been a member of the advisory board of PlumSlice since January 2019, and now is a member of the Miami, Fla.-based firm’s board of directors.

“The complexity of today’s omnichannel retail environment presents significant challenges, but even greater opportunities for retailers and brands to create incredible customer experiences by embracing digital transformation,” Schafer said. “PlumSlice delivers a uniquely powerful solution to streamline these omnichannel processes, and I’m excited to join a team committed to building and strengthening relationships with organizations at the frontlines of omnichannel innovation.”

Schafer has served on the board of directors for a number of public and private retailers, consumer goods brands and technology companies.

“Her passion and knowledge of our market is unparalleled,” said Abnesh Raina, founder of PlumSlice. “Lori knows how to define and achieve success for promising young companies and brings a vision for establishing PlumSlice as a best-in-class supplier.”
